Contracting Advisor
An attorney or paralegal with experience in negotiating, drafting, revising and implementing contracts. This candidate would also administer the contracts, acting as the liaison between the corporate client and the contractor's employees performing the contract, determining compliance with the contract terms, answering any questions related to the contract, resolving issues as appropriate, and working with the attorneys and internal clients as necessary. A lease administrator would perform the same functions regarding leases.
Position Summary
This position reports to the Midstream Project Commercial Manager and supports the structuring and operational launch of a stand-alone entity. The role leads projects to identify, assess, and restructure existing and new midstream commercial contracts and negotiate the appropriate assignments and amendments. The role is accountable for ensuring collaboration and alignment with Corporate Tax, Legal, Finance teams and the E&P Onshore Production and Strategy, Commercial, New Business Development organizations. The role also supports the assessment, implementation, and optimization the required gathering and export contractual agreements.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Analyze, design and implement a “stand Alone” contracting structure commencing 1 January 2014.
  • Development and implement strategies and tactics for successfully negotiating commercial agreements and amendments; i.e. production gathering, transportation & processing contracts.
  • Monitor and evaluate competitor’s midstream contractual activity and derive competitive insights.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with commercial, producing, and exploration counterparts both within and with external parties. Position “Midstream Commercial” as an integral contributing member of the client asset teams.
  • Plan and supervise the daily activities of a paralegal contractor.

  • Oil & Gas BusinessUnderstands oil and gas value chain elements and their interactions and how value drives, risk and uncertainty are addressed contractually value drivers

Experience and Education
  • Experience in multiple producing basins, export systems, and fiscal regimes preferred.
  • Business or Technical Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years in Oil and Gas industry preferred.
