Job Description
SPENCER OGDEN are currently recruiting for DRILLING OPTIMIZATION ENGINEERS to join a leading Oil & Gas Service Company. The Drilling Optimization Engineer will utilize subsurface & engineering data acquired while drilling to help optimize the drilling process and mitigates risks; Gathers all relevant data from LWD, MWD, Mud Logging, and drilling parameters. Analyzes and distils data into a format that can be easily communicated to the drilling team. Actively provides real-time decision support to the drilling team, and conducts risk assessment of the drilling process with recommended solutions that significantly reduce non-productive time (NPT). 

Role: 

Establishes single points of contact with client’s sub-surface and drilling department personnel for optimized communications. 
Understands drilling mechanics models (T&D, Hydraulics, etc) developed either by client or drilling engineering, calibrates these models while drilling. 
Establishes client approved drilling practices (e.g. Connection practices, hole cleaning practices, correct procedure to obtain pick up, slack off, and rotating weights, etc.) 
Establishes client approved KPIs, and evaluates them during after each job. 
Prepares risk assessments for wells based on proposed well plans, and works with the drilling team to develop action/contingency plans for each risk. 
Measures all aspects of drilling performance and maintains database to capture lessons learned, including BHA database via direct reports. 
Monitors cuttings vs. time from the shakers to evaluate hole cleaning. 
Utilizes drilling mechanics logs to identify trends and support recommendations. 
Performs cuttings morphology analysis. 
Calculates fracture gradient from real-time pore pressure models. 

Candidate: 

Minimum of 3 years’ field experience. Should have had exposure to more than one Schlumberger service, and be recognized as highly competent in at least one of these services. For more information about this specific role please contact our Glasgow Office
